Hello bees, I hope you are having a great week so far. I don’t know about you but I’m so glad for the cooler weather. That humid air was stifling and gross last week! I recently picked up a few new beauty bits from boots to try and want to share some first impressions with you!

The first item, which was actually the last item that I picked up, one of those strategically placed items right next to the till. I’m a Fenty Beauty virgin but have heard great things about the Fenty Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch primer and it’s pore diffusing effects. I’ve used this twice so far and I’m really loving how my skin looks under my matte foundations. It does make my pores look a lot smaller and does improve how long my foundation lasts before my chin and forehead gets oily. I picked up the travel size which is 15ml to try the product before splashing out on the full size. I will be trying this with all my foundations and will be doing a full review of this in a separate blog post!
Next up the Estée Lauder Doublewear foundation which is a old gem and not a new try for me as I used to use this years ago. I loved it then and still love it now, plus there was a amazing offer on at the time, a freebie with lots of Travel sizes in the cutest makeup bag! This is definitely worth a try if you have oily skin, like a matte finish and full coverage. It controls my oily patches and doesn’t make the skin look flat. It lasts on me for around 8 hours before it starts to go around the nose area but I never need to touch up with setting powder which is always a plus! It comes in a amazing 60 shades. The only downside is that it’s hard to not use too much product due to their being no pump.
The next two products I wanted to talk about is two of the freebies i received from the Estée Lauder offer. The Estée Lauder Stay In Place eye pencil mini is pretty impressive as kohl pencils go, I look for a jet black pigment when choosing one and this definitely provides that. I also like to get experimental with pencils and I’m pleased to be able blend this out into a smoky eye look easily. The full size has a smudging nib on the opposite end of the pencil which makes it amazing for travelling! The only downside to this pencil is that I find it very hard to sharpen as it has a plastic outer shell. The last product is the the Estée Lauder Sumptuous Extreme mascara mini in shade ‘Extreme Black’. I’ve never tried any of the mascaras from this brand so had no idea what to expect. I like how the brush on the mini is the same as the full size, the brush itself is long enough to coat lots of lashes in one go but also has a narrow tip to get into the corners. I recommend only doing one coat as I found doing another did make the lashes look a little like spiders legs. Once I stuck to one minimal coat my lashes did have lots more volume and length which I’m super impressed with. I will be picking up the full size in the waterproof formula after using this mini up!
Another sneaky waiting in the que find was the Too Faced Soleil Bronzer mini in shade ‘chocolate’. I was after a new bronzer and I really struggle finding one that’s dark enough to show up but that’s not too warm and dark to make me look muddy. This is the perfect shade for my skin and is very subtle just how I like it! I find this easy to apply with an angled brush into the hollows of my cheeks and jawline and it blends into the skin perfectly! I will definitely be picking this up in the full size once I’ve finished the mini.
The last item in today’s haul is the Maybelline Color Sensational Blushed Nudes lipstick. I’m always after the perfect nude and I’m so picky when it comes to finding one. It was super hard trying to shop for a lipstick with not being able to swatch anything due to Covid. I picked up the shade ‘nude embrace’ on a whim and I’m pleased with the colour. It is a little warmer than I wanted but it will make a lovely natural every day shade. I’m already a big fan of the Maybelline stick lipsticks and this wasn’t a disappointment, it applies evenly and feels great on the lips for a matte lipstick.
Have you tried any of the products from my recent haul? Let’s me know in the comments below!
