Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Primer Review

Hello bees, I hope you’ve had a great weekend! I spent mine camping with my son and some of his friends which was a lot of fun! As promised in my previous blog post, today’s post will be my thoughts on the Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Primer.

I picked up the mini size as I always like to try out products before splashing out on the full size. The mini has 15ml of product and costs £15. The full size holds 32ml of product and costs £24.

Firstly lets talk about the packaging, I’m a big fan of the minimal aesthetic when it comes to beauty products and this doesn’t disappoint! I love the muted pinky nude lid and pump that pairs with a matching frosted glass bottle. It looks and feels like it’s a high end product. The pump itself is easy to use and not cheap feeling, I found it easy to get the right amount of product without having to waste any. I also like how sturdy the bottle is, making if perfect for take travelling with you.

This soft matte product claims to be a
A shine-stopping, pore-diffusing primer that smooths the way for better foundation application and longer wear with an instant retouch effect. This has a thick creamy texture that stays put in the back of your hand once pumped out. It does blend out really well and sinks into the skin quickly, doesn’t leave the skin with that tacky feel and does make the skin feel super silky. This primer does has a medium strength scent to it, it reminds me of baby powder mixed with with a floral perfume. I don’t hate the scent but I’m glad it fades not long after application. I have watched a few reviews on YouTube from people who are sensitive to scents saying this gave them a headache when applying, so be cautious if scented products make you react in any way!

The selling point for me in a matte primer is what it can do for my pores. I have large pores in my T-zone which are my oily areas. This did a great job at making them appear smoother and less visible. I tried this primer with four of my favourite foundations. Two matte and two with a dewy finish and they worked equally well with both. This doesn’t fully mattify skin, instead leaves a satin finish, and really helps the base look more even and smooth. As for how it aids the longevity of makeup, I found that it definitely kept my makeup in place, even in my problem areas that always crease and move such as the end of my nose and creases of my nostrils.

Overall I like this primer, I will be using this up and buying another for the winter months when I prefer a matte skin. If you are interested in this primer it can be found here. I’m excited to try more from this brand and would love your recommendations in the comments below!

Thank you for reading.

  1. Is it bad that I don’t remember if I’ve tried this one? hahaha I had tried one of the Fenty primers but I’m pretty sure it was the OG one. It was ok but nothing compares to the Clarins Sos one I rave about ahah
