IT Cosmetics first impressions. A flawless base?

Hello bees, I hope you’re having a good start to the weekend. Although at this point I’m not sure that it matters since all the days are blurring into one during this lockdown.

So I’m sure like me you’ve been doing boredom online shopping while safe at home, during a YouTube sesh which led to a shopping spree I decided to try some base makeup from a brand I’d never tried before. IT Cosmetics admittedly was a brand I’d never heard of before but after watching another blogger use a few of their products I had to try them out for myself.

Disclaimer– this post contains affiliate links but as always opinions are honest and my own.

The first product I picked up was the IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream which was the most surprising product of all three, typically when I think of a CC cream I think low coverage so don’t usually opt for them but this is advertised as a ‘colour correcting full coverage cream’ so it peaked my interest. It claims to be hydrating, anti-aging, and contain SPF 50. The CC cream comes in a plastic tube with funky holographic packaging and a push down pump with a lid. I really enjoy the choice of packaging and love that it stands up on my dressing table, this comes in 12 shades and contains 32ml for £31 which is on the pricier side.

I was very surprised on the consistency of this product, I expected it to be a lot thinner but when pumped onto the back of my hand it definitely stayed put. When applying it feels like gel but has such amazing coverage, one pump was enough to cover my entire face and a little goes a long way. I was so pleased with the finish, it truly looks like a healthy dewy natural skin whilst offering coverage. It didn’t cling to my dry patches and didn’t sink into my pores and as for the wear throughout the day I didn’t have to touch up once and it still looked amazing hours later. I picked up the shade ‘fair’ which turned out to to be a perfect match for me. I will definitely be purchasing this again in the future, it’s also lemon scented which is one of my favourite scents!

I also picked up the IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Undereye Concealer after reading lots of reviews about it being high coverage whilst hydrating, which is a must for me with concealer due to my dark and dry under eye situation. This claims to be water resistant, highly pigmented, long lasting and contain skin loving ingredients to improve appearance of lines and wrinkles. The concealer comes in a small squeeze tube, costs £25 for 12ml and comes in 24 shades. Consistency wise I found this concealer very thick, which worried me as these type of concealers have always creased on me in the past.

I was pleasantly surprised with how little you needed, I only needed a small dot which covered both my under eyes. Surprisingly this did blend into the skin very well considering it’s thickness and worked very well with a damp beauty blender. The coverage is definitely full and I really loved how hydrated and healthy it left my under eye looking. Sadly this did exactly as expected and caused horrendous creasing after just an hour of wear and I did set my under eyes well with powder. Usually I don’t need to keep retouching when I use thinner cream concealers so unfortunately I won’t be buying this concealer again as it really didn’t look good. To get my moneys worth I’m going to be trialing it as a eyelid primer when I do my more dramatic looks.

CC cream in shade ‘fair’, Bye Bye Under Eye concealer in shade ‘light sand’ and Bye Bye pores setting powder in shade ‘translucent’

Lastly I picked up the IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Setting Powder in shade translucent. I suffer with large pores in the areas of my face where I’m oily so thought this would be great for me. This comes in both a pressed and loose texture and claims to help erase the appearance of pores and imperfections and is talc free so doesn’t cause the dreaded chalky white flashback. This costs £24 for 6.8g which was rather disappointing for me when I saw how small this jar was for the price.

I picked up the loose version as I’m not a fan of pressed powders, the first thing I want to to say about this is be careful once the film seal has been peeled off as this powder flies everywhere when opening. I’m pleased to report that this a very finely milled powder and a little does go a long way. This feels super light on the skin and does make the skin look silky smooth and gives a satin finish. I was super pleased to see that my pores look significantly smaller and apart from needing to touch up my creased under eyes (because of the concealer) I didn’t need to touch up my face. I will definitely be putting this on my buy again list when this pot runs out.

If you look closely you can see how much creasing I have underneath my under eye even after setting the concealer.

  1. When I was working in the beauty store IT Cosmetics just launched in our chain as our exclusive so we got to try some products. I actually don’t like the CC cream because it’s too heavy and greasy on me but so many of my coworkers loved it. I would love to try the powder, I definitely prefer loose too but I would love to try the pressed one as well
